Make-up, shampoos, detergents, hair products and creams (such as sun screen) wash off in the hot tub, contaminating the water and cause foaming. Avoid getting these products in the spa – wash/shower before using the hot tub and always use products (such as aromatherapy) designed for spa use.

Secure the Cover
Especially important during the Autumn and Winter months: make sure the cover straps/clips are tight and securely done up. Wind can catch under the cover and blow it away. A loose fitting cover allows cold air to get under the cover and heat to escape.
Air Cools Water
Hot Tubs use air injected into the water, fed into the jets, to invigorate the water stream. The amount of air is controlled using the topside mounted air controllers. Turn these off when you are not in the spa as the air can cool the water and also affect the water chemical balance. Always check your spa’s User Manual to ensure this advice is safe to be followed.
Water Changes
There is lots of advice about when to change spa water. On average it should be changed 3 or 4 times a year, or when the TDS (totally dissolved solids) is more than 1500. Cloudy water can be a sign that TDS is high because the particles suspended in the water make the water appear cloudy. Consider a partial water change more frequently by emptying and refilling half the water.
Too Hot?
Keep an eye on the water temperature and NEVER let it rise above 40 degrees C, especially in the summer. If the temperature goes above 40, seek immediate assistance from your user manual and/or the manufacturer or dealer.
