I was told at a shop that a big spa company went bust because it lied about how much electricity its spa used I cant find much on how much electricity spas use & cost except this from a company called Euphoria. Has any one got one of these ? how right are these costs

Jacuzzi UK commissioned independent research undertaken by RSK Group, one of Europe’s fastest growing environmental consultancies.

They found that Jacuzzi Hot Tubs have superb levels of insulation and are amongst the most energy efficient in the industry. Weekly running costs start at just:
• £3.71 per week for the J200 series
• £4.87 per week for the J300 series
• £5.17 per week for the J400 series

Typically energy usage equates to 5-7% of annual usage for a typical 4 bed home.

Energy usage calculations include: initial heating to 38°C 4 times per annum, constant maintenance of the water at 38°C with allowances for heat loss through the shell, cover and via evaporation plus the energy used to power pumps and filters. Costs are calculated at 10p per kWh.
I have been told that the better american hot tubs are all the same and chinese ones are very poor costing lots to run. But with these costs how can they be absolutly right as on the website for jacuzzi spa the sizes are different so you have more water in some models that must cost more to heat.

This becomes interesting about running costs, people seem to forget that the only time your spa looses heat is when the cover is off, I have owned 3 spas in the last 10 years one spaform and two Masterspas all of them cost about the same to run currently in the order of £5-6 per week, I go back to the old addidge 'if you cannot afford to run it dont buy it', whilst jacuzi are a nice tub made in the sundance factory and a realy good tub can cost as little as £5000 the price difference of upwards of £5K to buy a jacuzi means to me its going to take a lot of years to get the benfit of the £1 or so per week running costs saving.
Please don't get me wound up with whole running costs thing it makes me so mad I could throw my mouse down

Have a good one
