Full Version: Servicing should continue for Hotspring through Watkins

I bought a Tiger River Caspian from Hotspring mid last year, and I have 6.5 years to run on my warranty. A couple of days ago I heard from the electrician that helped install my tub that Hotspring was closing and leaving the UK. I already knew that the showroom I purchased from has closed. I thought I'd better check this out, after seeing all the posts on this forum. My service centre is Glasgow, so I rang them this morning.

A polite lady confirmed that although the showrooms are starting to close, the servicing of tubs and supply of chemicals and parts will continue. She stated that Watkins, the US manufacturer has bought the parts of Hotspring UK it needs, and there will be no interruption of aftercare service to existing customers. Supplies can still be ordered over the internet and servicing/repairs can still be booked from your allocated service centre.

"UK Hotspring owners" : please do not hold me to this statement. This is purely what I was quoted when I enquired. Any other UK owners should also contact their allocated service centre to confirm this to be the case.
Woudn't recommend a Hotspring now. No end of trouble fixing out old Sovereign - California doesn't reply Hot Tub Assst appointed repairers failed to fix and missed obvious disintegrated O rng and charged us £200 for failing to repair. Recommended new pump at £750. (Wihtout changing perished O ring which someone else did at a cost of £3) Got new pump installed, heater then started leaking... now writing off...

Don't buy unless you can fix it yourself - but even then, how will you get the parts which are unique to hotsprings? We haven'no reply to four different emails apart from an initial acnowleedgement.

Buying an Artesian instead - unless anyone says they're no good? .....

Regarding obtaining Hotsprings parts - that is true. A Hotsprings customer, out of warranty, called me to check their tub and the heater needed replacing. It is impossible to buy these unless you contact Hotsprings, and when I phoned them for the part, they asked for the customer's name and address. They then refused to sell the part to me and said they would call the customer.
This is an unfair practice as they are then able to charge any thing they feel and the customer is left with no choice.
I would avoid Hotsprings tubs for this reason alone. After the warranty period is over, the customer should have the freedom to obtain parts freely.
Who in thier right mind would buy such a high value product such as a spa hot tub from a company who has been in business less than 12 MONTHS.

Get what you pay for - NOT IN THIS CASE.

Fit somethings which may last longer.
My friend saw these at a garden centre and thought they were really pushy, do they use commison salepeople like double glazing companies and what is there history, the prices and discounts seem high
